We are Here to Help

Grief is the most normal and natural response we experience when dealing with a life-limiting illness or the death of a loved one, yet it can be very difficult to bear.

Our highly trained grief counselors are available to help you understand your feelings and thoughts and guide you through the process of coping with the death of a loved one. We offer a variety of adult grief counseling and grief support group options at multiple locations across San Antonio and neighboring counties.

Our adult grief support services are available to everyone in the community, including families who do not have an affiliation with Hummingbird Hospice.

Adult Grief Counseling

Adult grief support is available for individuals, couples, families.

Through generous funding from Wings of Hope, we are able to provide support groups to individuals dealing with different stages of grief. Group therapy is recommended to receive support, as well as provide support to others. By sharing experiences and showing others they are not alone, healing slowly begins, and understanding and accepting loss becomes slightly more tolerable each day.

Recognizing that everyone grieves in his or her own way, we offer a range of techniques and tools. These include traditional talk therapy, support groups, assigned reading or movies followed by discussions, and virtual Zoom sessions bringing together people from all across the country. We also specialize in treating people whose painful emotions are so long-lasting that they have trouble coping with the loss and resuming their own life.

Adult Grief Support Groups

Grief support groups provide an opportunity to connect with others who are grieving the death of a loved one. Led by professionally trained grief counselors and volunteer facilitators, grief groups are a safe, nonjudgmental place to find comfort care and to learn coping skills. Specialty groups include Parent Loss, Spouse/Partner Loss, and Caregiver Support. We also offer Youth Support.

To schedule a session with an adult grief counselor or register for a grief support group, call 210-908-9774 and request to speak with the Bereavement Coordinator.
