A Bit About Us
Our Philosophy
Hummingbird Hospice is a philosophy of care that assists patients, family, and friends during the final stages of a terminal illness. We promote dignity and emphasize quality of life for those who choose to die in familiar surroundings with those they love. Hospice services can be provided at home, in a skilled nursing facility, or assisted living center.

-
We recognize dying as an inevitable, natural process when curative therapy is no longer effective.
-
We do not hasten or prolong the dying process.
-
We believe that individual attention and sensitivity to the needs of dying patients will allow them to have a more fulfilling life.
-
We support the family and friends throughout the illness and assist them after their loved one has passed through the bereavement and grief support program.
At Hummingbird Hospice we believe every single moment matters. Our focus is on enhancing life when cure is no longer an option, and supporting those living with a terminal illness, as well as their families, from the the day they decide to join our care team to the end of life.

We are leaders in compassionate end of life care; our work centers on patient wellbeing and involving them in decisions about their care. Most importantly we give our patients more quality time with their loved ones.
Our Values
Our highest values are dedication, education, empowerment, service, and growth. We are committed to a patient experience that is fueled by integrity and respect. We work hard to ensure that all of our patients are as pain free as possible, and that they may pass with the understanding that their families will have the emotional and physical support they need in their time of grief. Hummingbird Hospice will show you how a Hospice should be.
Our Mission
We aim to treat each patient with the highest level of integrity and respect. We want patients and caregivers to know that they are in good hands, and that we will do everything possible to ease the pain during this transition. Most importantly, we want our patients to feel as comfortable with us as they do their loved ones. Under our care, our patients are not simply people, they are family.

Nurses manage the care plan, coordinate physical care, monitor patients for pain and symptom management and arrange for medications, supplies, and medical equipment. The nurse will educate patients and their family or loved ones about the illness, what to expect, and how to provide the appropriate care.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
CNAs and Hospice Aides assist patients with bathing, personal care, meals, and exercise in a dignified and respectful manner. They will assist with changing bed linen, laundry, and miscellaneous tasks that are in direct support of the hospice patient.
The Hospice Physicians work with the patient’s primary care doctor and others on the hospice team to ensure the patient is comfortable and symptoms are managed.
Social workers provide those on hospice, and their families, with emotional support and counseling as they transition to end-of-life care. They assess patients and family for signs of distress and provide resources in a variety of areas to assist during these times.
Chaplains provide non-denominational spiritual and emotional support for patients and their families. Chaplains offer counseling, bereavement and grief support leading to, and following, loss of life.
Volunteers visit hospice patients and their families to provide support and companionship. Volunteers enjoy sitting with patients and listening to personal stories, reading, and helping write letters. Some volunteers also provide emotional comfort by visiting, calling, or sending cards throughout the grieving period.
